What does it mean to #GoGood?

RS4K was originally founded to give running shoes to kids who needed them, but we quickly discovered that singling out students to receive a handout could be stigmatizing.

That was the last thing we wanted. We believe participating in athletics can teach kids to feel confident, valued and empowered to make positive - #GoGood - choices in their lives. So we came up with a way to distribute shoes that could lift students up, rather than draw attention to financial need.

Today, our goal has grown beyond just giving running shoes. Our vision is to bring our community together by helping families, encouraging healthy choices and empowering kids to believe in their GOOD worth - that they have the resilience to overcome obstacles and ability to achieve great things.

Why #GoGood?

It’s not always easy to do the right thing,
it takes grit to choose to #GoGood.

RS4K is dedicated to #GoGood by strengthening our community through the power of GOOD and choosing to be helpful, not hurtful:

  • Empowering kids to believe that they have the power to make positive choices and that their efforts to be their best are seen and valued by a community that cares about them

  • Supplying Kootenai County kids and families in need with quality athletic shoes since 2012 - 1200 and counting

  • Giving back to local schools and other nonprofit organizations

  • Cleaning up highways through Adopt A Highway Program

  • Facilitating a Community Event to bring our friends and neighbors together in celebration of going GOOD

How do you #GoGood?

When we go into schools through our #GoGood outreach program, we don’t define what it means to #GoGood. Instead, we encourage kids to reflect on the positive choices they’ve made and allow them to define it for themselves.

We continue to invite local schools to tell us how they #GoGood:

  • When 50 students turn in their #GoGood drawings, the school will receive 4 pairs of athletic shoes to be distributed by teachers and/or counselors to students in need or who have demonstrated how they #GoGood.

  • Teachers display #GoGood art on the walls in classrooms or around the school.

  • Morning announcements spotlight students’ #GoGood character traits.
